The energy company is investing almost 800,000 euros to bring gas to the town and the first customers will start receiving this service within the next few weeks.

Gas Navarra, the distribution company for GAS NATURAL FENOSA in the Provincial Region of Navarre, will start supplying gas to the first residents of Lekunberri within the next few weeks.

The company has already invested more than half of the 800,000 euros foreseen in the gasification project, the main stage of which will conclude in 2015. The project includes building 6 kilometres of network and laying the pipes needed to bring gas to 80% of homes in the town, as well as installation of a liquefied natural gas plant (LNG).

The supply of natural gas to Lekunberri will take place via a satellite LNG plant located at Calle Burundegia 9. This facility, with a storage capacity of 30 cubic metres, feeds the distribution network leading to the urban areas.

2.5 kilometres of network have already been built for this first stage of the gasification project and pipes have been laid along the main roads in the town. This means that 50% of homes and businesses will have access to natural gas.

The new service, already installed in other towns in Navarre, will enable the residents of Lekunberri to save approximately 30% off their energy bill when compared with propane gas consumption, with only the bare minimum of investment necessary for installation.

Over the next few weeks, the almost 200 homes that have already signed up for a supply will be able to access this service and over 450 homes are expected to be consuming natural gas by the end of 2015.

Presence in Navarre

Gas Navarra supplies natural gas to over 187,000 users in 131 towns around the Provincial Region of Navarre, meaning that over 90% of the population of Navarre has access to this form of energy. The company has a distribution network in Navarre of more than 2,000 kilometres of pipelines, which enables natural gas to be brought to 133,000 supply points.
