• This initiative, jointly promoted by GAS NATURAL FENOSA and the Film Academy, continues in February and brings the nominated films to its audiences.

About 3,000 spectators have so far had the chance to enjoy the 2016 Goya Awards Gas Natural Fenosa Touring Film Festival. After only 15 days, this initiative has visited cinemas in six cities and was full to capacity in every one of them, thereby demonstrating the public interest in Spanish cinema and the faces that make it possible.

The 2016 Goya Awards Gas Natural Fenosa Touring Film Festival began in Calatayud (Zaragoza) on 15 January by screening La Novia in the presence of its director, Paula Ortiz. It continued with Daniel Guzmán and his debut feature A cambio de nada in Huesca; Javier Cámara was responsible for presenting Truman in Alcalá de Henares; Luisa Gavasa brought La novia to Irun; Vallecas hosted ma ma with Asier Etxeandia, and Irene Escolar closed January in Segovia with Un otoño sin Berlín.

The stars expressed their satisfaction with the 2016 Goya Awards Gas Natural Fenosa Touring Film Festival, a 'fundamental' initiative according to Daniel Guzmán. 'It is a wonderful and necessary idea, we need to make room for cinema and take it where films are not easily seen because there are no cinemas any more', said Asier Etxeandia at the El Pozo del Tío Raimundo Culture Centre in Vallecas. Irene Escolar believes that 'without this support, it is very difficult for cinema to reach all the places where it needs to be seen'.

Events in February

The festival will continue its journey throughout this month. After the Goya Awards ceremony on Saturday, 6 February, four more towns will welcome the best Spanish films of the year, perhaps with one or more awards under their arm by then. The director of Anacleto: agente secreto, Javier Ruiz Caldera, will be responsible for presenting his latest film in Ciudad Real, a film that will also be screened in Sant Antoni de Portmany (Ibiza) with Rossy de Palma. Álex García, nominated for the Goya for Best Male Newcomer, will present La novia in Tenerife. The festival will end on 21 February with El desconocido in the city where it was filmed, A Coruña, accompanied by its director, Dani de la Torre.

New to the festival this year, the stars presenting the film also take part in a cineforum debate afterwards in which the audience can participate to share impressions, anecdotes and experiences.

The Gas Natural Fenosa Touring Film Festival is a joint initiative by the Film Academy and GAS NATURAL FENOSA that began in 2013 in order to bring the best Spanish cinema and its stars to those towns where access to such films is more complicated. It has been held six times since then (including this one), which have been enjoyed by over 30,000 cinemagoers.
