• As part of its commitment to cultural development and strong business ties with the city, Gas Natural Cegas is sponsoring this cultural initiative organised by Institut Valencià de Cultura for the seventh year in a row.
  • The sessions will be held in Valencia's Turia Gardens from 29 July to 27 August.

Earlier today, the Regional Culture and Sport Secretary, Albert Girona, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Culture and Equality of Universitat de València, Antonio Ariño, the Director of the MuVIM, Rafael Company, and the General Manager of Gas Natural Cegas in the Region of Valencia, Celestina López, presented the line-up for the 17th Summer Film Festival (Filmoteca d'Estiu), which will be held from 29 July to 27 August in the Jardines del Turia park, Valencia. Reflecting its commitment to cultural development and its strong business ties with the city, Gas Natural Cegas is sponsoring this cultural initiative for the seventh consecutive year. The event was also attended by the Film Festival Line-up Manager, José Antonio Hurtado, the Managing Director of Institut Valencià de Cultura, Abel Guarinos, and the Deputy Director of the IVAC, José Luis Moreno.

The 17th Filmoteca d'Estiu combines culture and outdoor recreation to present a wide range of films in the iconic Jardines del Turia, opposite the Palau de la Música. It is an initiative organised by the Institut Valencià de Cultura of the Regional Government of Valencia through the IVAC that was set up to meet the growing demand for cultural and leisure events and activities over the summer.

Valencia Summer Film Festival 2016 programme

As usual, the Summer Film Festival will include two sections: 'Cinema of Today' and 'Unexpected Couples'. The first will screen the most critically-acclaimed films of the year: Spotlight (Oscar for Best Film); Amy (Oscar for Best Documentary); La Juventud (winner of the European Film Awards) and Truman (Goya for Best Film). The section also includes the winners of the Goyas for Best European Film (Mustang) and Best Ibero-American Film (El Clan).

Meanwhile the section entitled 'Unexpected Couples', organised in partnership with the University of Valencia's Cinema Club, will show some films as part of its 'Nits de cinema al Claustre de la Nau' programme. This year, the section will present a series of films featuring unexpected relationships between two very different people. The films will include El Fantasma y la Señora Muir, Cielo sobre Berlín and Déjame Entrar.
