Gas Natural SDG : Distribución changes its name to Catalunya in line with the group’s distributor model in Spain

• The group has also recently created Gas Natural Aragón and Gas Natural Balears.

Gas Natural Distribución, the distribution subsidiary of GAS NATURAL FENOSA that operates in Catalonia, is changing its name and from now onwards will be known as Gas Natural Catalunya.

By changing its name to Gas Natural Catalunya, the company adheres to the GAS NATURAL FENOSA distribution business model in Spain, which specifies that the various distributors should include the name of the autonomous region in which they carry out their activity.

In accordance with this model, the group recently created Gas Natural Aragón and also Gas Natural Balears, through which it is developing gasification projects in the island of Menorca.

The company intends to gradually update the brand and name of Gas Natural Catalunya by legally registering the name of the new company. The name change will not affect the day-to-day operations of the distribution activity of the company and the users of the supply provided by the company will begin to receive correspondence with the new company name from November onwards.

Leader in gas distribution in Spain and Catalonia

Through its distribution companies, GAS NATURAL FENOSA is the leading natural gas distribution group in Spain. It currently has over 5.3 million supply points and 51,600 kilometres of distribution network in 1,213 municipalities of the 10 autonomous regions where it operates. Investments stood at 435 million euros in 2015, up nearly 30% from the previous year.

Gas Natural Catalunya distributes natural gas to 389 municipalities in Catalonia. The penetration rate (supply points divided by the total number of households in Catalonia) stands at 56% -higher than the 30% average for Spain as a whole - thanks to the investments by the company over the last 20 years.
