• The conversion of the propane installations and apparatus to natural gas is fast and free of charge for the customer.

Gas Natural Galicia is beginning the procedures which will convert to natural gas the propane-powered facilities the company bought from Repsol Gas in the towns of Burela and Foz, in Lugo.

In Burela, the GAS NATURAL FENOSA affiliate will convert over 25 kilometres of pipeline network and the installations of more than 2600 supply points to use natural gas. In Foz, Gas Natural Galicia will adapt over 22 kilometres of pipelines and nearly 2600 propane supply points.

Accredited company staff will work to convert propane installations and apparatus to natural gas, quickly, safely and at no charge to the customer.

Stages in the conversion

The GAS NATURAL FENOSA affiliate has sent a welcome letter to the users of the propane network.

The company followed this up with another letter explaining the conversion process, including a leaflet to guide them through it. They also let them know that accredited company employees will make a preliminary visit to list all the gas equipment and check its condition. And they were told that they will have to contact a marketing company to get a natural gas supply contract.

Finally, one week in advance, they will receive a letter informing them of the day and time slot when the company's technicians will come to their homes to convert and adapt the equipment listed in the previous visit, in order to change the home's gas supply.

From that moment, customers will be able to enjoy a continuous energy supply which does not need to be stored and is more environmentally sustainable, as it reduces emissions of CO and other polluting gases.

Until mid-August, the company's accredited staff will visit customers' homes to list and check the condition of gas equipment in Burela and Foz. After that, work will begin to adapt and convert the installations.

More information on the conversion process is available via the customer service helpline (900 708 709) and online at http://bit.ly/22noPF2.

Presence in Lugo and Galicia

Gas Natural Galicia invested around 15 million euros in Lugo province in 2015 to continue its plan to expand and develop infrastructure, and to improve its networks and services. The company manages nearly 21,000 supply points and a distribution network of around 460 kilometres ineight towns in Lugo: Barreiros, Cervo, Lugo, Outeiro de Rei, Rábade, Vilalba, Viveiro and Ribadeo.

In Galicia, the company has a distribution network of nearly 3,400 kilometres and nearly 263,000 supply points in 73 municipalities, meaning that 68% of the population of Galicia already has access to this energy source.

Introducing natural gas helps to boost the region's economy, as the company creates more than 75 direct jobs and almost 7,200 indirect jobs, mostly in installation and marketing companies.

Natural gas is the most efficient and environmentally-friendly conventional fuel and is the most economical continually-supplied energy source. It is an energy of the future that contributes to making industrial and business production processes more efficient and to improving quality of life and comfort in homes. And thanks to lower and more stable prices, natural gas now enables users to save on their energy bills.
