The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Nordic Development Fund (NDF) and GDF SUEZ, with the support of the Korean government, are sponsoring the 4th energy innovation prize. The competition is open to all persons and institutions of Latin America and the Caribbean from any of the 26 member states of the IDB.

What is the IDEAS competition for energy innovation?

It rewards innovative projects developed in Latin America and the Caribbean capable of having real local impact, increasing energy access and encouraging the development of a sustainable economy. The purpose of the competition is to support initiatives relating to the promotion of renewable energies and energy access in Latin America and the Caribbean, and to contribute to the establishment of a sustainable economy in the region.

GDF SUEZ, a partner of the Inter-American Development Bank since 2011

During the annual forum of the Clinton Global initiative, GDF SUEZ and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) signed a cooperation agreement protocol on sustainable energy access and the environment intended for Latin America and the Caribbean. This agreement was signed with a view to a close collaboration on sustainable social projects for energy access and the environment. This collaboration will specifically apply to support for corporate social projects aiming to ensure sustainable energy access to underprivileged populations. It is covered within the scope of the Group's corporate social responsibility initiative, "GDF SUEZ Rassembleurs d'Energies" (Energy Gatherers).

This initiative aims to encourage economic and social development and to contribute to reducing fuel poverty worldwide.
