GEA Comas and GEA Imaforni joined together to present their range of integrated bakery solutions at Interpack in Düsseldorf in May 2017. The theme for the stand was 'packed with inspiration' and the sales support team successfully managed customer expectations under the new GEA framework, securing order agreements in the bakery segment for approximately EUR 10 million during the tradeshow.

Interpack 2017 was the first time the two baking specialists had come together to exhibit as part of GEA. The message to customers was simple but convincing: in GEA they now have a single business partner for complete solutions in industrial bakery applications, with the opportunity to access a wider and more complete technology and application range with the unique competence from GEA in managing project execution in a professional and coordinated way, from order placement to plant operation.

GEA showed concentrated competences

"It was great to have GEA Comas and GEA Imaforni together under one roof," said Marco Gandini, Head of Bakery Applications for GEA. "It's obvious from the value of the orders taken, and the level of general interest in our combined offering shown by visitors, demonstrates that they like having the opportunity of complete production lines supplied, installed, commissioned and maintained throughout their lifecycle by one competent and reliable supplier." The bakery area was one of the biggest on the GEA stand - with several pieces of installed equipment - clearly demonstrating the strategic relevance of this business.

"Other aspects highly valued by our customers were the continuity with our tradition, ensuring that they will receive the same level of direct and passionate support from our application experts, grounded on 100 years of combined experience in the bakery sector, with the opportunity to benefit from the global GEA presence at local level, which means customer proximity, quick service and understanding of local needs," said Marco Gandini.

Synergies create new ideas and efficiency

Visitors appreciated the synergies between GEA Comas and GEA Imaforni portfolios when presented together. The technologies on show included: GEA Imaforni hard biscuit and cracker sheeting line; GEA integrated solution for soft biscuit and cookie production line featuring a GEA Comas co-extruder and a GEA Imaforni rotary molder; high-capacity GEA Comas cupcake production with GEA Imaforni tunnel oven; and GEA Comas Tartomatic compact pie machine.

GEA's sales support, technical and project management staff from the Application Center Bakery were available throughout Interpack providing visitors with their product and processing know-how, helping customers to find new ideas and suggestions to increase efficiency, develop new products and bring them to market quickly and profitably.
