KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA-December 9, 2016-With the launch of GE's Power Services (NYSE: GE) new Remote Monitoring and Diagnostics (M&D) Center today in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, more than 200 gas and steam turbines, boilers and generators in over 70 power plants in more than 10 countries across the region will gain access to remote M&D services that help increase plant performance through data analytics. The new M&D Center is Power Services' first-of-its-kind facility in the Asia Pacific region and is the latest addition to GE's Power Services global network of M&D Centers.

The M&D Center will support GE's Fleet360* platform of customized plant solutions, which offers expanded capabilities to service all GE and cross-fleet power generation equipment.

'As a total plant solutions provider, we are constantly evolving and refining our support capabilities in line with our customers' changing business goals and operating environments,' said Anders Maltesen, general manager-Asia Pacific for GE's Power Services. 'The M&D center is part of our continued commitment to drive digital transformation in today's dynamic energy landscape and to develop better services and solutions for our customers in Asia Pacific.'

The facility serves customers by helping them overcome operational barriers before they occur, regardless of whether the equipment they manage is supplied by GE or another original equipment manufacturer. Using GE's predictivity solutions, customers will benefit from a real-time data collection, enabling efficient problem-solving guidance and the avoidance of false alarms. These enhanced capabilities potentially can help reduce maintenance costs by up to 30 percent.

The launch of the M&D Center reflects GE's commitment to customers in the Asia Pacific region. Currently, over 85 engineering principals and experts serve the region and more are expected to do so over the next five years. The team also has access to physics-based, proprietary algorithms developed by the global M&D team to provide early warnings of more than 180 potential failure mechanisms.

'The continuous operational data flow through M&D helps keep a constant contact with our customer sites and our engineering teams. This creates the ideal platform for better collaboration between our engineers and customers, which facilitates a faster and more complete resolution to the problems faced,' Maltesen added.

The new M&D Center strengthens the existing global network of GE's power generation M&D locations in the United States, Scotland, France, Switzerland, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, India and China.
