General Motors CEO Mary Barra thanked the Detroit Branch of the NAACP for its work in pursuit of freedom and justice at the organization's 60th annual "Fight for Freedom Fund Dinner" Sunday night in Detroit, sponsored by GM. Vice President Joe Biden was the keynote speaker.

Barra, the dinner's senior corporate chair, cited Detroit's ongoing renaissance and GM's commitment to "serving and improving the communities where we live and work." During the past 10 years, GM and the GM Foundation have invested $85 million in Detroit-based nonprofits, including $10 million last year.
