Bangkok, Thailand: Chevrolet Sales Thailand (Chevrolet) sold 17,454 vehicles in Q1 (January to March) 2013, representing a YTD (Year-to-Date) growth of 14% compared with the same period in 2012. This also makes Q1 2013 the best-ever first-quarter sales for Chevrolet since the year 2000.

The Colorado pickup truck continued to lead in sales, with 7,618 units sold in the first three months of 2013. It was followed by the Sonic, of which 4,207 were sold during the same period. The Trailblazer recorded a total sales of 2,050 units during the first quarter of the year, followed by the Cruze (1,640 units) and Aveo CNG (147 units). Total sales for the month of March 2013 was 5,609 units.

The story was similar in major markets across the Southeast Asian region. The automaker sold 21,889 vehicles across the region in the first quarter of 2013, a growth of 17 percent compared with the same period in 2012.  Markets that posted growth included Indonesia (1,383 units, +20% YTD), the Philippines (1,095 units, +26 % YTD) and Malaysia (417 units, +26 % YTD).  GM also posted growth throughout other Southeast Asian markets of 559 units, up 212% compared to 2012.

Chevrolet expects sales to continue growing in view of positive responses for its newly-launched Spin sub-compact MPV (Multipurpose Vehicle) and updated Cruze with E85 capability, both of which were showcased at the recent Bangkok International Motor Show.

During the motor show, Chevrolet picked up six 'Car of the Year' (COTY) awards, the highest number of awards the automaker has ever achieved. For the second consecutive year, the Cruze sedan and Colorado pickup truck have been recognized with 'Car of the Year' honors for being the best vehicles in their respective classes. Chevrolet's Sonic hatchback, Trailblazer SUV, and Volt Extended Range Vehicle also took home prizes for automotive excellence.

Two days after winning the COTY award, the Colorado was named Thailand's 'Best Pick-up Model of the Year' by the global market research firm Frost & Sullivan. The 2013 Frost & Sullivan Thailand Excellence Awards honors companies that push the boundaries of excellence by rising above the competition and demonstrating outstanding performance in Thailand.

In an effort to continue strong sales momentum, customers buying certain Chevrolet models will get special prizes in gold. The gold offer will be available to all Chevrolet customers buying vehicles from any dealership throughout Thailand.

Chevrolet has also launched a new customer safety incentive campaign in conjunction with the upcoming Songkran festival. The 'Check to Ensure a Safe Drive' Songkran safety campaign, in cooperation with the Land Transportation Department, offers Chevrolet customers free 30-point inspections of their vehicles at all Chevrolet dealerships nationwide.

Customers will also get to enjoy a 10-percent discount for parts and consumables such as engine oils and oil filters. The campaign is effective from April 1 - 30, 2013 and is a part of the automaker's ongoing efforts to promote safe motoring and lower road accidents attributed to faulty vehicles.
