General Motors Company : GM China Sells 231,183 Vehicles in May; Up 21.3%

SHANGHAI--Sales at General Motors Co. (GM) and its China joint ventures rose 21.3% in May from a year earlier to 231,183 vehicles on strong sales of microvans produced by its SAIC-GM-Wuling joint venture.
Sales of passenger cars by Shanghai GM--its joint venture with Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp.--rose 7.1% to 99,113 vehicles, the motor-vehicle maker said in a statement Tuesday.
Sales at GM's Wuling joint venture with SAIC and Liuzhou Wuling Motors Co. rose 34% to 119,721 vehicles, the statement added.
However, sales at FAW-GM--its commercial-vehicle joint venture with FAW Group--fell 0.7% to 3,756 units, GM said.
For the first five months of the year, sales at GM and its joint ventures totaled 1.2 million vehicles, up 11.5% from the same period a year earlier.
