GeoMet, Inc. (GeoMet) is a shell company. The Company was engaged in the exploration, development and production of natural gas from coal seams (coalbed methane (CBM)). The Company's operations and producing properties were located in the Central Appalachian Basin in Virginia and West Virginia. The Company was the operator of 298 producing vertical CBM wells in which it owned a 99.0% average working interest in the Pond Creek and Lasher fields located in southern West Virginia and southwestern Virginia. It was also the operator of 44 producing pinnate horizontal CBM wells in which it owned a 71.6% average working interest in central and northern West Virginia. It also had a 33.7% average working interest in 67 non-operated pinnate horizontal wells in central West Virginia.
