"Sustainability is an integral part of the GF business model", says Yves Serra, CEO of GF. "In our factories we invest to automatize our operations as well as in technologies to reduce energy consumption, emissions, and waste volumes. This is in the common interest of our company and the environment."

GF supports its customers in improving their sustainability performance: At GF Piping Systems this takes the form of the development and provision of piping systems for safe water transport withouth leaks and contamination. GF Automotive supports the automotive industry in the reduction of emissions with lighter components, while GF Machining Solutions, with innovative high precision machine tools, contributes, for example, to reducing the fuel consumption of aircraft through increased engine efficiency.

GF is also one of the largest recyclers of metal in Europe and purchases in excess of 500 000 tons of scrap metal annually as raw material for its iron foundries. In order to achieve the sustainability targets together, GF continually invests in the professional and technical competence of its employees and managers with more than two days training a year per employee.

GF publishes the key sustainability figures annually, and every two years in the form of a comprehensive report. The sustainability report is validated externally and corresponds with the application level B+ of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).
