New on the market: GS100, GS180, GS185
Gigaset extends its range of powerful entry-level smartphones with three new models

Gigaset has added three new entry-level smartphones to its range with the GS100, GS180 and GS185 models. They are also the first new models to be rolled out in 2018. The Gigaset GS100 is in the price range from EUR119, where it sets a new tone with its 5.5-inch 18:9 HD+ IPS panorama display. The two sister models GS180 and GS185 succeed the GS170 and offer a wide range of features, an NXP audio processor and a powerful 4,000 mAh battery with rapid recharging function. Their prices are set at EUR149 and EUR179, respectively.

Gigaset is continuing to focus on a wide range in the entry-level segment with its first new smartphone models for 2018. The new Gigaset GS100 lowers the price barrier for customers even further while now offering a rich set of features and a panorama display at a price of EUR119. "Since entering the smartphone business, we have been able to position ourselves very successfully in the lower price segment," says Andreas Merker, Head of Mobile Devices at Gigaset. "Our approach of offering products that boast extensive features at a good price has struck a cord with many price-sensitive consumers. Our aim with the new models is to further expand our offerings in this segment." The GS180 and GS195 are the first Gigaset smartphones to hit the market with the latest version of the Android operating system (8.1 Oreo). They impress in particular in this price class with their powerful sound thanks to an NXP audio processor (GS180) and a strong 4,000 mAh battery (GS185).

Big is beautiful with the Gigaset GS100
The Gigaset GS100 is aimed specifically at price-sensitive customers who nevertheless still want a full-featured smartphone. Whether used as a kid's first smartphone, a second phone on vacation, or as a device for everyday use, with its MTK 6739 quad-core processor, 1 GB of RAM and Android 8.1 Oreo in the Go Edition, the GS100 delivers enough performance for almost any application from Instagram to WhatsApp. "Android Go is great for entry-level smartphones. We are one of the first manufacturers to use the new Go operating system," says Andreas Merker. "The Go edition requires less processing power and makes do with the built-in RAM, yet still delivers a smooth user experience."

Snapshots and selfies are captured with 8 and 5 megapixels, respectively, and can then be viewed on the 5.5-inch 18:9 HD+ IPS display at a resolution of 1,440 x 720 pixels, which is excellent in this class. The dirt-repellent and scratch-proof 2.5D glass ensures a clear view, and with its slightly rounded corners it transitions smoothly into the phone's body in Lemon Green, Cobalt Blue or Graphite Grey. The replaceable 3,000 mAh battery provides flexibility and sufficient power. Plenty of memory and unlimited connectivity are ensured by a dual SIM and a separate MicroSD slot that can expand the 8 GB of internal memory to up to 128 GB.

GS180 delivers improved sound thanks to its NXP audio processor
The GS180 goes a step further in terms of features and technology. With its NSP audio processor, it targets users who place great value on an especially well-controlled sound with lots of volume and a wider frequency range. The HD Voice feature suppresses background noise and interference during phone calls - undisrupted enjoyment of streamed music and videos in high sound quality or exceptional clarity during phone calls.

The generous 5.5-inch in-cell IPS display in 16:9 format with 1280 x 720 pixels reproduces colors clearly and naturally. The user has access to a 13-megapixel main camera with a highly effective PDAF autofocus system and an 8-megapixel front camera with selfie flash. The replaceable 3,000 mAH battery provides enough power with the 1.3 GHz MTK quad-core processor for up to 620 hours of standby time, and the dual SIM allows users to combine private and business numbers in all our models.

Packing a punch with the GS185 - 4,000 mAh battery and panorama display
The GS185 is the premium model in its class - a full-featured all-rounder. A 4,000 mAh battery delivers enough power for 80 hours of music, up to 10 hours of videos, or up to 35 hours of phone calls in the 2G network and still up to 17 hours in the 3G/4G network. The generous 5.5-inch IPS panorama display in 18:9 format with 1,440 x 720 pixels is ideal for displaying photos shot with the 13-megapixel front or main camera. The display takes up almost the entire front of the smartphone.

The GS185 is the first Gigaset smartphone to be powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor. It has 2 GB of RAM, and the internal memory of 16 GB can expanded to 256 GB. Thanks to the rapid recharging function, with 1.5 A instead of 1 A, the GS180 and GS185 are recharged 50 percent faster than standard phones.

And as if that's not enough, there's something else rather unique about the Gigaset GS185: It is the first smartphone that is produced in Germany. Production at Gigaset's site in Bocholt in Germany has always been one of the company's USPs in the field of DECT cordless telephony. And now as part of a pilot project, production of the first smartphone in Germany has become reality. "Not only has this pilot project proven our innovative spirit, it also delivers a raft of advantages for customers and the environment alike," explains Andreas Merker, Head of Mobile Devices at Gigaset.

GS180 and GS185 - the first smartphones with the latest Android 8.1 Oreo
The design of the new smartphone models impresses with its rounded 2.5D display lines, pleasant haptics and good looks thanks to metallic effect lacquer. As with the GS100, the display glass is dirt-repellent and highly scratch-proof.

Unlike the GS100, the GS180 and GS185 have a fingerprint sensor for unlocking the device as well as other functions. Up to five different fingerprint profiles can be stored.

All three smartphone models feature a main and front camera, but with different resolution (5 MP, 8 MP and 13 MP for the front camera). With the integrated effect mode, pictures can be artistically modified with various color effects. A front-facing flash provides ideal lighting for selfies even in total darkness.
