The European artists' exhibition.

The European Contemporary Art Fair will take place from 17 to 20 November at the Strasbourg Exhibition Park. Over the course of the four-day event, around a hundred exhibitors from all over Europe will be presenting works by well-known and up-and-coming artists. Some 22,000 visitors are expected for this major art fair, which is the 3rd largest in France.

The 22nd European Contemporary Art Fair will host nearly 100 galleries in 10,000m² of exhibition space, covering several artistic fields such as painting and sculpture, but also photography, drawing, street art, video, performing arts, publishing and Studio Glass (a modern technique that uses glass to produce 3D sculptures or works of art). With more than 500 artists represented, ST-ART showcases the talents of yesterday and today. From Miro and Florence Dussuyer to Sol LeWitt and Laurent Impeduglia, the Fair presents a broad spectrum of artistic creation produced by both renowned and up-and-coming artists.

This year's guest of honour is the Venet Foundation, which conserves the collection of Bernar Venet and also organises exhibitions, such as those by on James Turrell in 2016 and Fred Sandback in 2017.

To mark this major art event, the City of Strasbourg has set up a special stand at the Fair entitled 'Carte blanche à ...'. This initiative - organised by the Department of Plastic Arts - aims to highlight a particular aspect in the field of visual arts. This year, Olivier Kaeppelin will be giving visitors the opportunity to see an exhibition devoted to the artist Damien Cabanes. This artist combines the techniques of painting and sculpture in the same artistic process. He was a finalist in the 2011 'Prix Marcel Duchamp' and his works have been commissioned by local authorities to be displayed in public areas (such as the 'Jardin des Tuileries' in Paris and the Toulouse metro). 'Damien Cabanes' produces dense, tangible works that give shape to little aspects of life,' says Olivier Kaeppelin.
