The beer-brewing fair celebrates its 5th anniversary.

Founded over 20 years ago in Montreal, the Mondial de la Bière (World Beer Festival) staged its first fair in Rio 5 years ago. Organised by Fagga | GL events Exhibitions, the 2017 fair will take place from 11 to 15 October at Pier Mauà.

The craft-beer sector is booming and attracting an increasing number of consumers. The Mondial de la Bière has fostered the development of beer production in the State of Rio de Janeiro, which has seen the number of breweries increase by 512% since the first fair was held.

The fair brings together manufacturers, distributors and craft-beer importers, with more than 150 exhibition stands. It also hosts conferences with professionals on subjects related to beer, such as food services, restaurants and craft brewing, as well as conferences addressing music, travel and literature.

The best beers will be judged during the MBeer Contest Brazil, a tasting competition involving national and international judges and members of the public. This year, the jury will include two high-profile judges: Jeannine Marois, president of the Mondial de la Bière and Serge Noël, a renowned beer waiter.

In order to make the tasting sessions as interesting and fun as possible, there will be several stands providing food and over 32 bands will be performing concerts, ensuring the 5-day Rio Mondial de la Bière festival is a real party.
