On Wednesday 16 May, the new Guangzhou Convention Center, which is scheduled to open in 2020, was presented to buyers from the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions) sector and to partners and journalists on the GL events stand at IMEX, the international business tourism fair.
Situated near the historic site of the Canton Fair, the new Centre comprises 2 exhibition halls (each providing 2,500m² of exhibition space), a 505-seat amphitheatre and 47 modular meeting rooms that can hold up to 2,600 people.
With a highway linking the venue to the major motorways, the Convention Center is easy to reach from the third busiest airport in China, and can also be reached by underground. The venue aims to establish itself as the leading convention centre in the Asia-Pacific region for major national and international conferences and corporate events.

The venue will be jointly managed by the Yuexiu Group, a Chinese public real estate company, and GL events, an international player in the event industry.

The presentation was followed by a cocktail that underlined Guangzhou's position as the centre of Cantonese cuisine, which is reputed around the world, as well as the city's exceptional lifestyle and cosmopolitan culture.

This event is part of the promotional strategy that GL events is to implement in partnership with the city, in order to position Guangzhou as a major business tourism destination.
