Glencore Completes Acquisition Of 80% Interest In Rosh Pinah Zinc

LONDON--Commodities trading group Glencore International PLC (>> Glencore International Plc) said Monday that it has completed the acquisition of an 80.08% interest in Rosh Pinah Zinc Corporation Ltd, a zinc mining business in Namibia.
-Rosh Pinah operates an underground zinc/lead mine in south-western Namibia, 800 kilometers
-south of Windhoek.
-The mine produced 89,000 tons of zinc concentrate and 16,000 tons of lead concentrate in 2011.
-Intensive on-mine exploration is underway to add to the total mineral resource base of 8 million tons.
-Glencore shares closed Friday at 357.8 pence valuing the company at GBP24.77 billion.
