New Director Appointment

The Board of Glencore plc announces the appointment of Patrice Merrin as an Independent Non-Executive Director of the Company with immediate effect.

Following initial roles with Molson and Canadian Pacific, Patrice E. Merrin worked at Sherritt, the Canadian diversified miner, for 10 years until 2004, latterly as COO. She then became CEO of Luscar, Canada's largest thermal coal producer. She is currently a non-executive director of Stillwater Mining (NYSE). She was elected as a director of Stillwater having been proposed by activist investors in a proxy contest. She has also recently been proposed by activists for the boards of MFC Industrial and Cliffs Natural Resources. She was a director of CML Healthcare (then TSX) from 2008-2013, latterly as chairman and also of Enssolutions, a mine tailings solutions company, and NB Power.

Patrice Merrin was a director of the Alberta Climate Change and Emissions Management Corporation from 2009 to 2014. She was also a member of the Canadian Advisory Panel on Sustainable Energy Science and Technology from 2005 to 2006, and from 2003 to 2006 was a member of Canada's Round Table on the Environment and the Economy.

1.   is a director of Stillwater Mining Company (NYSE: SWC);

2.   was a director of CML Healthcare Inc. (TSX: CLC) from 2008 to 2013 including holding the position of Chairman between 2011 and 2013 and interim chief executive officer between May 2011 and February 2012; and

3.   was a director of Enssolutions Group Inc (TSX: Ven: ENV) from 2009 and 2011.
