Russian billionaire Vladimir Potanin, the owner of just below 30% stake in the mining giant OAO Norilsk Nickel (>> GMK Noril'skiy nikel' OAO), said Thursday he isn't seeking control of the company.
Speaking to reporters he said it wouldn't resolve the shareholders' conflict.
"If one of the shareholders gets a controlling stake, it would be logical to de-list the company, but that would be the worst possible scenario," he said.
Norilsk is a battlefield between major holders--Potanin and Oleg Deripaska, whose United Co . Rusal PLC (0486.HK) owns 25% stake in the miner.
