Facilities of the Polar Division Process Railroad Transportation Service have been expanded with a new hydraulic Pervomaets (KZh-1572B ) crane. The Russian Railways operates 19 similar cranes, the 20th goes to the Polar Arctic, the first such unit in Norilsk.

The crane was built for cargo handling/repairs/construction/emergency repairs/track-laying on the 1520 mm gauge and can operate in an ambient temperature range of -40C - +40C.

The crane is fully equipped for the Polar North: the equipment is covered up with bumpers to protect it from precipitation, the cockpit is outfitted with an Airtronic heater and the windshield is electrically-heated, a monitor displaying readings from the digital, current load and general status is built in the cabin, in addition to indicators for the diesel motor, hydraulics system, a dashcam with an internal display and counterweight-mounted camera, which improves the visual range in backwards movement.

Maximum loaded capacity amounts to 150 tonnes with a boom-out reach of 28.9 meters. The crane was produced by Kirov Machinery Plant. The crane was assembled and installed by the manufacturer plant team. The crane was priced at approximately RUB 100 million.

Up until this point the facilities of the Polar Division Process Railroad Transportation Service operated diesel-electric cranes with capacities of 125 and 60 tonnes, built in the German Democratic Republic (Leipzig) in 1966 and 1972.
