Norilsk Nickel became a partner of the Open Arctic international scientific conference held during Moscow Arctic Days Festival.

Over 600 experts, researchers and NGO's from Germany, UK, Norway and Czech Republic, including Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of Russia, Sergey Donskoy and President of State Polar Academy, Arthur Chilingarov, took part in the conference to discuss current issues facing the Arctic region.

The Festival was organized by the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. Discussions focused on rational use of Arctic resources and potential for further geological exploration to unchain the potential of the local natural resource base.

Norilsk Nickel is one of the region's main subsoil users and an active participant of discussions concerning sustainable development of Russian Arctic territories, rational use of its resources and initiatives aiming to improve the local investment climate. Deputy General Director of Norilsk Nickel for GR and IR issues, Andrei Bougrov, noted that "such events are crucial for sharing experience, discussing best legal framework development initiatives and implementing new legal instruments".
