We have reached the halfway point of another incredible MotoGP season, with the first half coming to a close at the GoPro Motorrad Grand Prix of Deutschland at Sachsenring. More than 160K spectators packed into the Sachsenring facilities to experience the most elite racers on two wheels go to battle on the circuit, and amongst the increible fan turnout were GoPro advocates from Sweden, Italy, Spain & Germany, invited to experience an exciting MotoGP weekend with GoPro. They shared a ton of content across their channels, reaching 4.9M people! This, combined with the millions of folks that catch the broadcast around the world, brought MotoGP racing to a massive audience.

In addition to the advocates, GoPro invited other guests including key European distributors, retailers and other friends of the brand, who joined us in GoPro's own Corporate Area, where they could get an exclusive experience of the incredible race weekend.

Paddock tours, service road tours, visits at team garages and rides in the safety car made the weekend outstanding for the guests. The race day was then capped off with a BBQ at the GoPro Truck following a visit to the fan village. Giveaways, food, drinks and all-around stoke permeated the GoPro activation in the village.

The real celebration, though, was at the podium following a truly spectacular day of racing in the premier GP class. Repsol Honda's Marc Marquez celebrated his eighth straight win at Sachsenring, while his teammate Dani Pedrosa put another Honda on the podium in third. German rookie Jonas Folger scored second place in front of his countrymen.

In addition to the customary bottles of champagne, Marquez, Folger and Pedrosa were presented one-of-a-kind trophies designed by GoPro's in-house Creative Team. Taking inspiration from racing exhaust pipes, the trophies (shown at right by one of the 13 Grid Girls) are the perfect combination of racing DNA and the premium GoPro brand.

GoPro's own Valentino Rossi settled for fifth place at the German GP and currently sits fourth overall in points. He already has a win and three other podium finishes in 2017, and is definitely within striking distance of yet another championship to add to his collection. The most decorated racer of all time still has plenty in the tank, and with nine races left in the series, he has plenty of time to whittle away at the points lead.

The racing action fires back up on August 6th in the Czech Republic. Check out MotoGP.com for all the information, and stay tuned to the GoPro and MotoGP social channels for all the best content from the race track.
