Granite Construction Incorporated (NYSE:GVA) announced today that it has been awarded a $209 million contract by the Alabama Department of Transportation for modification of the 59/20 Interchange in Birmingham. Granite will book the project into backlog during the first quarter of 2016.

Granite is responsible for the construction of the interchange at I-59/20 and I-65 on the Northwest side of Birmingham’s Central Business District. The project includes new direct connector bridges to downtown, widening of existing bridges to improve operations for connection to future phases, as well as replacement of crossover bridges and main lane pavement improvements.
