Green transport hub unveiled at George's Quay estate

The railway arches at Tara Street - at the heart of Dublin's transport system since the late 19th century - have been upcycled into a 21st century green transport hub at Green REIT's George's Quay estate.

The iconic structures are now enabling a whole new sustainable commuting experience thanks to a makeover by landlords Green REIT plc.

Having identified the need for improved cycling facilities at George's Quay, the company has transformed the arches spaces into a creative secure storage facility for 200 bicycles - but that is only the start of the story.

To encourage employees to take to two wheels, Green REIT received planning permission to convert underutilised space beneath the disused arches to high-quality shower and changing facilities.

The construction work has now been completed and include 16 shower rooms with changing and drying facilities and over 200 lockers for employees to store their cycling gear or work clothes, making it easier to organise a working week around a cycling commute.

Home to 3,000 employees, George's Quay Estate comprises the iconic 13 storey 150,000 sq ft George's Quay Plaza, home to tenants such as Amundi, RBC, Innovative Interfaces and AXA Insurance and the 101,000 sq ft George's Quay House home to Fidelity and CIB.

At George's Quay Plaza, the iconic building offers leasing opportunities of up to 14,000 sq ft over two floors of modern Grade A office space, with landlord CAT A specification including raised access floors, suspended ceilings, LED lighting and four pipe fan coil air conditioning.

At George's Quay House there is 17,000 sq ft available on a short-term basis.

The office buildings at George's Quay were recently certified as some of the best buildings in the country for broadband and telecoms infrastructure and awarded a Gold rating by international connectivity accreditor WiredScore.
