market, attended the "ATM Security 2011" conference in London
Oct 18 to 19. The annual event is jointly organized by ATMIA
(ATM Industry Association) and RBR (Retail Banking
Research).
The key issues addressed at the event concerned fraud
and security in self-service banking. Representatives from
the largest suppliers of banking equipment and software, as
well as banks from Canada, France, Greece, Hungary, Italy,
Japan, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Turkey and the UK, shared
their experiences of combating and preventing ATM
fraud.
Case studies of Palm Vein biometric technology and
H68NL were presented by Ali Araz, CIO of Ziraat Bank and
General Manager of Fintek Financial Technology Services in
Turkey; Pranas Griskevicius, Regional Sales Director, Europe
& CIS, GRGBanking and Thomas Bengs, Director of Business
Development and Sales, Fujitsu PalmSecure EMEA.
The biometric ATM H68NL, which adopts the latest Palm
Vein security technology and is used now by Ziraat Bank, was
showcased at the event. The H68NL is the model of 1505 GRG
recycling ATM bought by Ziraat Bank to build the
largest biometric ATM network in Europe by January
2012.
