Groupon Testing Credit Card Reader In SF Bay Area -Bloomberg

Groupon Inc. (>> Groupon Inc) is testing a credit card reader for retailers that plugs into smartphones, Bloomberg News reported Friday, citing a person with knowledge of the matter.
The device is produced by Infinite Peripherals Inc. and is being tested at dozens of locations in the San Francisco Bay Area, the person told Bloomberg.
On Thursday, the VentureBeat blog, citing a forwarded email, said Groupon was testing a card reader.
Bloomberg reported that a Groupon spokesman didn't specifically comment on a credit card reader test. The spokesman said "Groupon has a number of trials in markets that are designed to help merchants and small businesses."
