The parent company of Grupo Empresarial SURA has been included for the fourth year running in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index, a global benchmark for evaluating comprehensive and responsible business management.

Medellín. September 11, 2014 GRUPO SURA is one of 319 companies chosen worldwide to form part of the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI) this year, in token of its commitment to the responsible and sustainable handling of its business strategy from all economic, environmental and social standpoints. Grupo SURA was the only Latin American company out of a total of 11 belonging to the Diversified Financial Sector that were included in this year´s listing. We also obtained a total score of 81 out of 100, that is to say, just one point behind the highest score given.

The DJSI has become a global benchmark for analysts and investors alike who acknowledge the effort that goes behind evaluating the all-encompassing aspects of business management. The companies that form part of this Index are considered to be organizations with sustainable business strategies firmly in place

David Bojanini García, Grupo SURA's Chief Executive Officer stated: "We are extremely pleased to have gone from a score of 72 to 81 points in the general ranking, thanks to the significant improvements made in all three dimensions evaluated. This shows the substantial effort made in gradually enhancing our practices on a daily basis, which is one of our main objectives with regard to this assessment."

With regard to the more prominent areas for the Company, Mr. Bojanini added: "With regard to the economic dimension, for example, Grupo SURA obtained the highest score in its industry. This covered criteria relating to financial stability, risk management, branding, anti-crime policies, tax strategy and the supply chain, amongst others.  As for the social dimension, we improved upon our results in terms of health and occupational safety; talent attraction and retention and corporate citizenship. Significant progress was also made in climate change management. Although we still have important challenges going forward in all three dimensions, we are happy to report that we are heading in the right direction with our long-term strategy.

GRUPO SURA was first admitted to the Dow-Jones Sustainability Index in 2011, the first Colombian company belonging to the Financial Service sector to do so, and has been successively re-admitted since then.

This year out of a total of 319 companies that were included in the DSJI World Index, 7 are Brazilian, 6 Colombian, and 1 Chilean, for a total of 15 Latin American companies. It is also worthwhile noting that these six Colombian companies included not only Grupo SURA but four other companies that are directly related to its investment portfolio, namely Grupo Bancolombia, Grupo Argos, Cementos Argos and Grupo Nutresa.

From the market´s standpoint, the importance of the DJSI lies in the fact that over recent years we have seen more interest and more awareness raised in sustainable business management, which has become synonymous with a sound, long-term performance. This is why there is an extensive group of international investors who are focusing their attention on companies who have been chosen to form part of this type of index.
