Commission to Provide Guidance on Future Government Big Data
Initiatives
GTSI Corp. (NASDAQ: GTSI), a systems integration, solutions and services
provider to federal, state and local government, today announced that
Prem Jadhwani, Senior Technologist and Solutions Architect at GTSI, was
selected as a Commissioner on the TechAmerica Foundation Big Data
Commission (BDC). Working in conjunction with a government advisory
board, the BDC will provide guidance on how government should best
leverage big data to address critical business issues and better deliver
on the mission, as well as examine how big data can help drive
U.S.-based innovation and competitiveness. Darren House, a Data Center
Technologist at GTSI, will serve as Mr. Jadhwani's Deputy.
"Government has embraced technology as a critical component of mission
success," said Sterling Phillips, Chief Executive Officer, GTSI.
"Agencies need to use that technology to harness the power of these
extensive, diverse sets of data that are expanding across government.
TechAmerica Foundation's Big Data Commission will help identify ways to
apply this data to create more efficient solutions for better
governance."
Following the Obama Administration's announcement
to invest $200 million in big data research and development, the BDC was
created to understand the complexity and variety of data and define key
business outcomes. The Commission will focus on sensor networks, social
networks, social media data analysis, astronomy, atmosphere science,
genomics, biological and other interdisciplinary scientific research,
military surveillance, medical records, full-motion video and
large-scale e-commerce endeavors.
"Prem is an ideal candidate to serve on the BDC," added Phillips. "His
technical leadership skills and extensive experience in the government
market will help agencies address how they can best capture and process
increasing amounts of unstructured data, as well as manage and advance
big data initiatives. As a company, we are proud to support the effort."
