Gucci Wins $4.66 Million, Ban On Guess Knock-Offs -Reuters

Apparel retailer Guess Inc. (>> Guess?, Inc.) was ordered by a U.S. judge Monday to pay Gucci $4.66 million in a patent infringement case and awarded the Italian luxury goods company a permanent injunction against Guess's use of three of four of its trademarked designs, Reuters reported.
The judge ruled, however, that Gucci was not entitled to damages and the award was based on profit from specific items where infringement of Gucci trademarks occurred. Gucci, the PPR SA (>> PPR) unit, had sought more than $120 million in the case.
