Guidance Software, (NASDAQ:GUID), the World Leader in Digital Investigations™, announced today that Brian Krebs, the leading cybersecurity investigative journalist who broke the story of the Target breach, will be the keynote speaker at CEIC® 2015, May 18-21 in Las Vegas. CEIC is the largest international gathering of digital investigations, information security and e-discovery and forensic investigations professionals for interactive sessions and presentations delivered by industry experts representing government agencies and corporations from around the world.

“Krebs’ diligent effort to report from the front lines on high-profile security breaches over the past two decades has earned him access to the innermost sanctums of those affected and the deep respect of the security community,” said Alex Andrianopoulos, vice president, Marketing for Guidance Software. “His unique analysis of cyber threats and the ways that cybercriminals operate will be invaluable for CEIC attendees looking to stay a step ahead of the nefarious actors in today’s complex security environment.”

Krebs worked as a reporter for The Washington Post from 1995 to 2009, authoring blog posts for the Security Fix blog, as well as hundreds of stories for washingtonpost.com and The Washington Post newspaper. He achieved notoriety investigating cybercriminals’ illicit activities, uncovering massive data breaches and the theft of consumers’ personal and financial information. Krebs was the first journalist to report on the malware that would later become known as Stuxnet.

Sony Pictures is making a movie profiling Krebs’ efforts, which include gaining and sharing the first intelligence on the Target, Home Depot, Neiman Marcus, Sally Beauty, Goodwill, and Michaels breaches as well as the retaliatory acts attempted by the cyber criminals whose activity—and identities—he exposed. Krebs’ forthcoming book, “Spam Nation,” delves into the inner-workings of the cybercrime underground. He is currently the editor-in-chief of krebsonsecurity.com.
