Hainan Airlines has become the first Chinese airline to feature on the big screen at the world renowned Times Square in New York City. The airline’s short video showcased the company’s award-winning services while also recognizing its growing follower-base on social media.

Hainan Airlines, China’s only SKYTRAX 5-Star airline, recently featured a thirty-second video showcasing the exceptional products and services offered by the airline at the world-famous Times Square in New York. The brief video supports the airline’s efforts in expanding its global reach, solidifies its position as one of China’s leading airlines, and pays homage to its tight-knit community of fans on Facebook.

Choosing one of the world’s most international cities to be featured in was an easy decision for the company, as it continues to expand its international capacity. In 2014, Hainan Airlines added flight routes from Boston, Paris and Yekaterinburg in Russia. These cities support the airline’s existing international network with flights from Canada, Belgium, Germany, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan and several additional locations within the United States and Russia.

The company’s growth has been driven by its award-winning service, having won four consecutive SKYTRAX 5-Star airline awards, and this year complimenting that by taking the honor as “Asia’s Leading Business Class Airline” from the World Travel Awards. The airline’s exceptional service and attention to detail have also seen it become one of the few Chinese airlines to grow a following via social media, with Hainan Airlines’ Facebook page showing mainland Chinese competitors the way ahead in reaching out to and engaging with overseas air travelers.

Mr. Hu Yi, General Manager of Marketing at Hainan Airlines, explains: “We’re enjoying the challenge of becoming an internationally competitive airline, but we also see the importance in being a friendly and approachable airline that our passengers can reach out to on Facebook.”
