Halliburton Introduces Higher-Power, Higher-Torque
Downhole Drilling Motors
New Motor Series Delivers Unsurpassed Performance and
Reliability
HOUSTON - May 15, 2012 - Sperry Drilling, a Halliburton
(NYSE: HAL) business line, has introduced the
SperryDrill® XL/XLS and GeoForce®
XL/XLS series motors to its fleet of positive displacement
drilling motors.
SperryDrill and GeoForce XL and XLS series motors offer novel
downhole drilling motor technology for harsh drilling
conditions and special applications such as air drilling,
extended-reach drilling and high-temperature drilling. The
new motors
can be configured to suit any drilling environment, balancing
power and durability to deliver unsurpassed performance and
reliability in a positive displacement
mud motor.
The XL and XLS series motors afford more consistent power
delivery to the bit while retaining power in reserve to
withstand the toughest drilling conditions. In addition to
providing up to 80 percent more power, the XL and XLS series
motors are able to achieve higher build rates unattainable
with conventional motors because of a shorter
bit-to-bend.
XL series motors have been run in North and South America and
in the Middle East, delivering exceptional performance by
increasing rate of penetration, eliminating readjusting motor
trips, and improving reliability. These high-power motors
