Hammerson : cycling team take on the Yorkshire Dales in the White Rose Classic

Hammerson is proud to announce that nine members of the team took part in the White Rose Classic cycling challenge on Saturday 24 June.

The Hammerson team took part in the challenge alongside team mates from John Lewis, Eversheds and Faulkner Browns. The route saw the team cycle 114 miles through the Yorkshire Dales, climbing over 10,000 ft of the Yorkshire Moors on the same roads used by the Tour de France, Tour de Yorkshire and the 2019 Professional World Championships. The White Rose Classic is a premier road cycling sportive which has taken place since 2012, run by the Ilkley Cycling Club. 1,000 riders take part each year, and proceeds from the entry fees go towards promoting local grass-roots cycling initiatives, as well as encouraging more men and women to get into the sport.

The Hammerson team raised almost £1,200, for the Hope Health Action (HHA) ten-year anniversary appeal which the business is supporting as part of its 75 birthday activities. HHA provides sustainable, life-saving health and disability care to vulnerable communities in Haiti and Hammerson has been a proud supporter of the organisation for over seven years. As well as a number of fundraising initiatives over the year, six members of Hammerson staff will be flying to Haiti later in the autumn to assist with the charity's work on the ground.

Bringing together representatives from Hammerson head office, Victoria Leeds and those that worked with us to create Victoria Gate, the team put in a huge effort, and we are delighted with the amount that was raised for HHA, a truly worthwhile cause and one that we are proud to support as a business.'
