06.05.2015

Hammerson announces that Ed's Easy Diner has signed up to open at Elliott's Field Shopping Park, its £35 million extension and redevelopment in Rugby.

Ed's Easy Diner, which will be making its debut in Rugby, will take a 2,500 sq ft unit on a 15 year lease. Already a mainstay amongst the leading restaurateurs in a number of Hammerson's shopping centres across the UK, the opening at Elliott's Field marks a significant first for the popular retro American restaurant in the Company's out-of-town portfolio.

Ed's Easy Dinner will be joined by other recent signings including Caffé Nero, which has signed up to take a 1,500 sq ft unit on a 10 year lease, and popular casual dining restaurant, Nando's that will take a 3,500 sq ft unit in the scheme.

Elliott's Field is set to host an impressive line-up of retailers with a 60,000 sq ft full-line Debenhams department store offering womenswear, menswear, homewares, cosmetics and a café/restaurant that will anchor the scheme, as well as other leading retail brands including M&S, TKMaxx, Outfit, Next and Clarks which are already committed to the scheme.

On schedule to open later this year, Elliott's Field will comprise 180,000 sq ft of retail and dining floorspace and 567 car parking spaces.

Tom Cochrane, Asset Manager, Hammerson said: "Ed's Easy Diner, Caffé Nero and Nando's are all great additions to the line-up of tenants we have already attracted to Elliott's Field. Our aim is to deliver a vibrant destination that offers a broad mix of shops and restaurants for the local residents of Rugby and the wider area to enjoy. By offering a diverse choice, with something for all the family, Elliott's Field will help to retain customer spending locally and boost Rugby's reputation as a retail destination in its own right."

Andrew Guy, CEO of Ed's Easy Diner, added: "Elliott's Field Shopping Park represents a great opportunity for Ed's, further extending our reach into the Midlands. We'll be working closely with employment charity Springboard, hiring around 25 new staff from the surrounding area. The new redevelopment will hopefully attract a large number of people from all over Rugby later this year."
