02.12.2014

Hammerson has appointed Michaela Moore as the new general manager of its flagship retail destination Bullring Birmingham,

Michaela replaces Tim Walley, who retired at the end of November after leading the team at Bullring for over 11 years.

Michaela brings over 25 years of retail experience to the role, having held positions in a variety of markets from luxury brands to fast fashion. She joins Bullring from fashion brand Jaeger, where she oversaw the customer journey within the brand's outlet channel, including e-commerce, marketing and retail operations.

Prior to this, Michaela held several senior roles at iconic British brand Burberry, including heading up operations in Europe and the brand's outlet channel. Among her key achievements were overseeing more than 160 new store openings and refurbishment projects across Europe, and launching the brand's flagship store on London's Regent Street.

Michaela commented, "Having lived and worked in the West Midlands it's great to be joining the team at Bullring, which has become an integral part of Birmingham's identity and the region's premier retail destination. With consumer confidence increasing, the retail experience is still key in attracting shoppers and I look forward to working with the team to ensure Bullring continues to attract retail firsts and offer a unique customer experience."

Janet Bishopp, Head of Shopping Centre Management at Hammerson, said, "Michaela's strong retail background and experience across a diverse range of sectors makes her the ideal person to take over Bullring's leadership. Her expertise in our key strategic areas; experience, convenience and luxury make her a perfect fit for the business. Tim has done a brilliant job in helping ensure Bullring has become a premier retail location - not just in the UK but globally. He should be proud of that achievement and I'd like to thank him for all his hard work over the past 11 years."

In 2013 Bullring celebrated its 10th year of trading, and has welcomed over 400m shoppers during the past decade. Recently Zara announced it is expanding its presence in the centre, including the addition of a 20,000sq ft space on the scheme's upper level dedicated to menswear, the first in the UK.

Bullring is managed by Hammerson and owned in a JV by Hammerson, Henderson and CPPIB.
