After 2 years of bidding process, Hamon Thermal (Tianjin) Co., Ltd. ("HTT") has been awarded by Jiangsu Electric Power Design Institute a new contract in the Jiangsu province, China. This new project takes place in the Phase II of the Jurong coal fired power plant.

Phase I is composed of 2 units of 1,000 MW each directly cooled by the Yangtze River. Phase II consits of 2 additional units of 1,000 MW each with a closed cooling circuit.

Each new unit will be cooled down by a natural draft cooling tower with a height of 178 m and a base diameter of 127 m. The new cooling towers will be equipped with water collecting devices allowing a significant pumping head saving and unit efficiency increase.

HTT will provide the following services:

  • engineering (in collaboration with Hamon Thermal Europe ("HTE") and Hamon Shriram Cottrell);
  • manufacture of the equipment;
  • site delivery;
  • equipment erection;
  • commissioning.

Jurong Phase II is the third contract (after Wanzhou and Anqing projects) awarded to HTT with the strong design support of HTE for natural draft cooling towers equipped with water collecting devices and will show again Hamon's strengths in state of the art cooling towers.
