Hang Lung Volunteers and Children Create Colorful Architecture

(Hong Kong, June 29, 2014) The Hang Lung As One Volunteer Team of Hang Lung Properties Limited (HKSE stock code: 101) is holding a series of art jam activities named "Colorful Architecture" this summer. The activities help children to appreciate the profound aspects of architecture and inspire their creativity through art jamming, which brings art and architecture together.

Through these activities, carried out with the help of the Hong Kong Young Women's Christian Association, more than 60 children aged 6 to 10 from underprivileged families in Tin Shui Wai and Tuen Mun can explore their creativity by painting their dream architectural designs.

The first activity was held last Sunday (June 29). Mr Adriel Chan, Senior Manager of Hang Lung Properties Limited, took part. He said, "Hang Lung Properties is constantly committed to supporting the development and education of young people, encouraging and facilitating them to develop their potential and establish positive life values. This activity enables the children to understand the beauty of architecture and to fully express their emotions and creativity through colors and patterns. This was the first time for me to take part in an art jam activity with children. Their originality and imagination have inspired me to think out of the box and realize that 'every child is an artist'!"

To enable children to understand what quality architecture is, the activity was kick-started by an inspiring presentation conducted by Ms Carmen Law, Manager of the Project Construction Department of Hang Lung Properties Limited. She introduced children to the world's great architecture in an interactive question and answer exercise. In addition, a professional art tutor demonstrated some basic skills in creating architectural paintings including the use of colors, lines and patterns.

Afterwards, volunteers and children picked up paint brushes and spent nearly two hours finishing their paintings in acrylic of their ideas of creative architecture. Finally, they displayed the design concepts and features of their dream architecture. Mr Chan presented prizes to the children and encouraged them to further explore their creative talents.
