Austin, Texas, February 20, 2017 - The Clinical and Scientific Affairs Department of Hanger Clinic has successfully created a series of clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) for the orthotics and prosthetics (O&P) industry, designed to improve clinical outcomes by defining evidenced-based and consistent patient-focused O&P care. Two of these CPGs were recently published in the prestigious Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and presented at the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine last November.

'Hanger Clinic is leading the O&P profession by creating and using these evidence-based CPGs to treat patients consistently to ensure the best possible outcomes,' said Hanger Clinic President Sam Liang. 'The publication of these first two CPGs allows more clinicians to benefit from our best practices, and sends a clear, tangible statement that our industry is serious about outcomes.'

The CPGs for post-operative care and prosthetic foot selection were produced by Hanger Clinic colleagues Chief Clinical Officer Jim Campbell, Ph.D., Clinical Research Review Committee Chair and Clinic Manager Phil Stevens, MEd, CPO/FAAOP, Clinic Manager John Rheinstein, CP, FAAOP, and Research Scientist Shane R. Wurdeman, PhD, MSPO, CP, FAAOP.

Additional information on the published CPGs can be found in the following orthotic and prosthetic trade magazines:
