Harley Davidson : Robinson Aboard Factory Harley Goes Top Five At Inaugural AFT Red Mile

LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 3, 2017) - Harley-Davidson Factory Flat Track team rider Brandon Robinson finished fifth after a 25-lap battle for a spot on the podium at the Red Mile, the seventh race of the 2017 American Flat Track (AFT) Twins series.

Robinson and Harley-Davidson Factory Flat Track Racing Team rider Kenny Coolbeth Jr. each put their Harley-Davidson XG750R competition motorcycles on the front row for the start of the 25-lap main in the first AFT race held at the famous one-mile red clay oval, which typically hosts horse harness racing in the Bluegrass State.

Robinson chased down the third- and fourth-place riders in the closing laps of the race but could not pass to move up from fifth and crossed the finish line just 0.121 seconds behind the third-place bike. The result was the best of the season for the 26-year-old rider from Oxford, Pa.

Coolbeth got a bad start in the main and fell back to 12th place in the opening laps. The veteran rider battled in traffic and moved up to 10th place at the finish to put a pair of the Factory Harley XG750R bikes in the top 10 for the first time at a mile race this season.

Harley-Davidson Factory Flat Track Racing Team rider Jake Johnson made the Red Mile main on the third Factory Harley XG750R, starting 7th and finishing in 11 place, 1.961 seconds behind Coolbeth.

The Harley-Davidson XG750R flat tracker is a competition motorcycle powered by a race-modified, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected Revolution X V-Twin engine originally engineered for the Harley-Davidson Street 750. The XG750R flat tracker motorcycle is not a production model. The Revolution X V-Twin engine is for sale through Harley-Davidson dealers today and can be modified for racing use by aspiring dealers and privateers.

The Harley-Davidson Factory Flat Track Racing Team returns to AFT action on June 17 at the OKC Mile at Remington Park in Oklahoma City, Ok.
