Harris Teeter Announces Decision to Close Holly Square Location; Store to Re-Open as Carlie C's

After careful consideration and strategic market review, Harris Teeter announced today that it will close its 1688 S. Main St. Laurinburg, N.C. on July 17, 2016. The location will re-open under the Carlie C's banner on July 20, 2016.

Harris Teeter's Holly Square location in Laurinburg opened in February 1978. The Company employs 61 associates at that location and began informing associates of the store closing on Monday, June 20, 2016. Carlie C's is a regional operator of supermarkets in eastern North Carolina and is headquartered in Dunn N.C. Carlie C's operates 20 supermarkets in seven different counties in N.C.

Harris Teeter made a strategic decision to close this location only after careful consideration.

In the coming weeks, the Company will work closely with its associates to assist them through the closing process. Harris Teeter will offer its associates the opportunity to transfer to other locations. Those who do not wish to transfer will be offered the opportunity to interview with Carlie C's. Carlie C's plans to hire most of the Harris Teeter associates wishing to remain at the Laurinburg location and give them credit for their service with Harris Teeter.

The Company will inform customers of this decision through in-store signage and e-VIC communication.

Harris Teeter opened nine stores in 2015 and anticipates opening 11 new locations during the 2016 calendar year. These stores will be in North Carolina, Virginia, and Maryland.
