HONOLULU, Nov. 10 -- Hawaiian Electric issued the following news release:
Hawaiian Electric Company is continuing work to replace two 138-kilovolt transmission line poles along Moanalua Road in Aiea, across from the Waimalu Elementary School. The next phase of work will be done overnight, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., weekdays from Monday, Nov. 13, through Dec. 1, excluding Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday, Nov. 23 and 24, and weekend days.
The construction area is along Moanalua Road, west of the intersection of Kaahele Street. For the safety of the public and the crews, three lanes of traffic will be closed during nighttime work hours: the two westbound lanes of traffic and the middle turning lane. The adjacent sidewalk in the construction area will also be closed.
Westbound traffic will be contraflowed onto one of the two eastbound lanes of traffic. Therefore, there will only be one lane of traffic available for motorists traveling in each direction.
Traffic signs, control measures, and special-duty police officers will help control traffic on Moanalua Road.
Hawaiian Electric wants to advise the public about this work and apologizes for any inconvenience.
