Hawai'i's largest and longest-serving airline maintains No.1 ranking for 12-month period

HONOLULU - Hawaiian Airlines' North America and Neighbor Island flights arrived on schedule 84.2 percent of the time during the month of September, according to data released today by the U.S. Department of Transportation. Ongoing congestion due to airport construction and increased passenger traffic combined with several operational stoppages due to lightning strikes at airports throughout the state placed the airline 11th among U.S. carriers for punctuality.

Hawaiian, Hawai'i's flagship carrier, still maintains its top ranking for on-time performance over the past 12 months. The airline has seen improved operational performance in October and early November.

'This has been a disappointing month for us, which does not reflect how hard our employees work to maintain our industry-leading punctuality. Our preliminary numbers for October are looking much better and should serve as a solid foundation for our resurgence back to the top spot,' said Mark Dunkerley, president and chief executive officer at Hawaiian Airlines.

Hawaiian Airlines provides daily non-stop service to Hawai'i from 11 gateway cities in North America - more cities than any other carrier - using Airbus A330-200 and Boeing 767-300 aircraft, making it the only carrier to offer wide-body, twin-aisle aircraft for all transpacific flights. Hawaiian Airlines also operates approximately 160 daily flights between the Hawaiian Islands using Boeing 717-200 aircraft.
