OTE GROUP: Rapid New Generation Network expansion in fixed and mobile telephony in 2016

-Over 2 million households & businesses with VDSL access to up to 50 Mbps

-4G population coverage at 93% and 4G+ at 82%

-New mobile broadband speeds up to 500 Mbps

OTE Group's new generation networks recorded significant development this past year, due to its €1.3 bn investment plan. Thanks to these investments in 2016, more customers may now enjoy new high internet speeds in both mobile and fixed telephony, as well as higher quality services.

OTE Group's Chief Technology & Operations Officer, Mr. Stefanos Theocharopoulos, stated:"We set our goals high for 2016 regarding the development of new generation networks. 2016: High internet speeds and new services for even more users

In mobile telephony, the population coverage of the4G networkincreased in late 2016 to93%, holding on to itsNo1place far ahead of competition. Within the past year, the OTE Group also significantly increased its4G+ networkpopulation coverage. Using LTE Advanced (LTE-A) technology, the respective population coverage has now exceeded82%, offering a unique mobile internet experience. Furthermore, utilizing the acquisition of new spectrum, the Groupwas the first provider in Greece andamong the first worldwideto make available to consumers speeds up to500 Mbps. In addition, the OTE Group mobile telephony network was awarded yet again in 2016 the "Best in Test" certification by the internationally recognized Network Measurements & Testing Company P3 Communications - confirming the high quality voice and mobile internet services enjoyed by the COSMOTE subscribers.

Infixedtelephony, the OTE Group has continuedreplacing the copper network with optical fibers, giving access toVDSL speeds up to 50 Mbpsto even more consumers and increasing the relevant population coverage to 46%. Currently, more than 2 million households and businesses have access to VDSL speeds up to 50 Mbps.

Moreover, the OTE Group offers faster fixed Internet with final speeds up to 100Mbps with the new serviceCOSMOTE Home Speed Booster, which became available this past year and combines the fixed broadband connection speed with the 3G & 4G mobile networks speeds via Hybrid Access technology.

Investment in research and innovation

In order to ensure its pioneer status with regard to technological developments, the OTE group participates in a series of innovativeresearch programsand evaluates both new technologies and future telecommunications equipment in itslaboratories.

By partaking in 4 EU research programs focusing on the design and development of new technologies, infrastructures and 5th generation services, the Group actively contributes to5Gresearch anddevelopment.Respectively, OTE presented theNarrow-Band Internet of Things(NB-IoT) technology that changes the IoT as we know it, since it radically reduces energy consumption and the volume of data transmitted between devices, regardless of their distance; a tool that will become a necessity in the smart cities of the near future.

It is worth mentioning that in 2016, after many years of research and preparation, the OTE Group mobile network also incorporated the new Internet addressing protocolIPv6for the optimal support of IoT technology. In addition, after continuous tests in collaboration with developers, COSMOTE was the first provider in Greece to present the Voice over WiFi & Voice over LTE technologies, allowing subscribers to call and send SMSs through WiFi in order to make their calls faster and enjoy communication of even higher quality.
