RESTON, Va., Oct. 23, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Leidos Partnership for Defense Health today announced the successful deployment of MHS GENESIS at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington. The installation, training and support of MHS GENESIS at Madigan is the next important step in deploying a world-class electronic health record (EHR) to support health care delivery to 9.4 million members of the Armed Forces, their families, and beneficiaries. As the prime contractor, Leidos (NYSE: LDOS) formed a team of industry leaders including core partners Cerner, Accenture Federal Services, and Henry Schein to lead the development and integration of MHS GENESIS through the program lifecycle.

The deployment at Madigan follows installations at Fairchild Air Force Base, Naval Health Clinic Oak Harbor and Naval Hospital Bremerton, completing the Initial Operational Capability deployment to key military sites across the Pacific Northwest. Madigan is the largest inpatient facility thus far to initiate the deployment of the interoperable EHR. Upon program completion, MHS GENESIS will integrate inpatient and outpatient solutions that will connect all military services' medical and dental information across the continuum of care, from point of injury to the military treatment facility.

The program was built around the Cerner Millennium(®) commercial EHR platform and Henry Schein's commercial Electronic Dental Record platform as a patient-centric system that focuses on quality, safety and patient outcomes that support Department of Defense readiness objectives. As a clinically led information technology capability, MHS GENESIS can change the way care is delivered in the military and advance interoperability between the private and public sectors.

"Leidos is proud to support the Program Executive Office, Defense Healthcare Management Systems in its mission to transform the delivery of health care in the Military Health System and improve data sharing with other agencies, including Veterans Affairs, as well as private health institutions," said Leidos Group President Jon Scholl. "We remain committed to excellence in fulfilling our customers' mission in deploying an EHR system that provides enhanced, secure technology to ensure mission readiness."
