KAZAKHSTAN and MCLEAN, Va. - Hilton (NYSE: HLT) today announced plans to grow its presence in Kazakhstan, with two new properties planned in Astana and Almaty. DoubleTree by Hilton Almaty, which will mark the brand's debut in Kazakhstan, is set to open under a franchise agreement with Abli Kurylys LLP in late 2017. Hampton by Hilton Astana Triumphal Arch will be managed by Hilton under an agreement with Hotel Stroi Invest TOO and will join Hilton Garden Inn Astana when it opens in January 2018.

'Following our debut in Kazakhstan in 2014 with Hilton Garden Inn Astana, we have been pursuing further development opportunities here and in the wider C.I.S region,' said Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice president, development, EMEA, Hilton. 'Having recently announced our first Hilton property in Georgia's capital of Tblisi, Hilton's brands are experiencing incredible momentum in this part of the world, and we're pleased to be adding new properties in Astana and Almaty.'

DoubleTree by Hilton Almaty
Almaty has the largest population of any city in Kazakhstan, and the former capital city remains the country's trading and cultural hub. Located at the foot of the Trans-lli Ala-Tau Mountains, landmarks include the Central Stadium, Kazakh Dram Theatre, and Republic Square. The new 112-room hotel will be located within walking distance of these attractions and main city centre at 115 Dosmukhamedova Street, and feature a host of Food and Beverage outlets including a roof top restaurant, as well as significant event space and a fitness and spa area.

Owner and Principal Shareholder, Abli Kurylys, Ansary Karaneyev, said: 'Almaty has long been a successful tourist destination with its untouched natural terrain and historical heritage. It is also a significant economic hub and remains the centre of commerce for Kazakhstan. As a business, we have worked hard to build a successful entertainment complex in the region, and we are delighted to now be working with Hilton on our first hotel project, which will bring much needed accommodation for the corporate and sports sectors.'

Hampton by Hilton Astana Triumphal Arch
The 114-room Hampton by Hilton Astana Triumphal Arch is being developed by Hotel Stroi Invest TOO. Serikkali Mukhametzhanov, principal shareholder, Hotel Stroi Invest TOO, said: 'As the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana is an established city with a fast-growing hotel business. As the area continues to undergo transformation big international events, such as EXPO 2017, will generate further awareness of the area as a tourist and business destination. We are excited to be working with Hilton on this project, bringing much needed modern economy accommodation to the market and filling a gap for consumers.'

With a growing hotel business, Astana is the capital of Kazakhstan. Home to the headquarters of numerous state-owned corporations, it is also the seat of the Government of Kazakhstan and a number of government departments and agencies. The new Hampton by Hilton hotel will be located in the Yesil District at 43 Mangelik Yel Street, on one of the main arterial routes from the airport to the city centre, surrounded by the Nazarbayev University campus as well as various sporting arenas including Astana Arena.
