Hitachi Solutions Canada today announced the successful go-live implementation of Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2, one of the most important strategic initiatives for Strike Energy in the past decade. The project also included Hitachi Solutions’ Build//AX solution, a solution built on Dynamics AX and tailored to the construction industry.

Hitachi Solutions Canada’s enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution has prepared Strike Energy for the future by providing the company with access to better, more accurate and timely information required to reach significant growth objectives over the next five years.

“With the help of Hitachi Solutions Canada, Strike Energy is well positioned to meet future business demands and provide our customers with even better customer service and improved project controls,” said Jerome Beaudoin, chief information officer, Strike Energy. “Like many organizations in the construction industry, we were using outdated technology and lacked standardized processes across the organization. We knew that Microsoft Dynamics AX was the right solution for us; we just had difficulty partnering with the right vendor.”

“What Hitachi Solutions Canada brought to the table was flexibility, a strong understanding of Dynamics AX R2, and a solid understanding of the construction industry. They worked with our aggressive timelines, and together we were able to complete the project on time and on budget. For us, this is not only the most important non-construction initiative in 2014, it is the largest strategic non-construction initiative for the organization in 10 years.”

After previous failed attempts with other vendors, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2 was successfully implemented with Hitachi Solutions Canada on schedule, in record time (just seven months), and within two per cent of the established budget. Divided into three phases starting February of 2014 and going live Sept. 1, 2014, the implementation of Dynamics AX resulted in the following benefits for Strike:

  • Insight into the complete project lifecycle, resulting in more strategic project management
  • Standardization of business processes across all business units based on best practices
  • A single system of record to aid in making better business decisions, enhancing communications, and improving operational and financial reporting
  • Improved financial visibility and project controls resulting in greater profitability
  • Technological advantage in an increasingly competitive landscape

“True partnership is the key to our success and, most importantly, to the success of our customers,” said Mike Gillis, chief operating officer, Hitachi Solutions America. “We are very proud of the fact that Hitachi Solutions Canada has worked hand in hand with the Strike team to help them move towards their vision. We look forward to a long term business relationship with Strike, assisting them in further realizing the benefits of Microsoft Dynamics AX and Hitachi Solutions’ Build//AX solution.”
