HITT receives new orders in The Netherlands and Hong Kong
Hitt has received orders for the modernisation of the
Coastal AIS/VTS system of the Netherlands Coastguard Centre
in Den Helder and the supply of a Solid State Radar at the
new Kai Tak Cruise Terminal Building in Hong Kong. The
total value of the combined orders is about EUR 5.5
million.
The order from the Netherlands Coastguard Centre
(KWC) in Den Helder includes modernising the hardware and
software of the existing Coastal AIS system (supplied by
HITT in 2004), radar processing for the coastguard itself
and a maintenance contract for three years. With the
renewed (V3000) system, the Coastguard centre staff will
have a more complete picture of the traffic situation at
sea. The system which provides real time tracking of ships
on their journey along the Dutch coast line, assists KWC in
executing its tasks in the area of enforcement and rescue
coordination.
In Hong Kong, HITT received an order from the local
authority to provide a Solid State Radar for the new Kai
Tak Cruise Terminal. The Solid State Radar, which allows
for better performance at lower maintenance costs, will be
integrated with the existing Vessel Traffic Control system
of the Hong Kong Marine Department, the Marine Police and
Customs & Excise system. HITT was selected as the supplier
of the Sold State Radar for its in-depth knowledge of the
existing systems in Hong Kong, built up in earlier
assignments.
KaiTak Cruise Terminal Building is
located on the former runway in Victoria Harbor and
accommodates cruise operation facilities including customs,
immigration, quarantine and police as well as other
facilitating facilities. Upon its completion mid 2012, it
will be able to accommodate the world's largest cruise
ships. The new radar will be located on top of a 55 meter
high tower.
