HMS, a wholly owned subsidiary of HMS Holdings Corp. (NASDAQ: HMSY), announced today that it has been named an honoree of a 2013 CSO40 Award from IDG's CSO magazine. This new award honors 40 companies that have demonstrated that their security projects have created outstanding value and thought leadership.

The award-winning effort involved the creation of an enterprise-class security organization to manage the integrity of HMS's data. "This project improved security awareness, protection from data leakage, and monitoring of compliance," said Scott Pettigrew, chief security officer of HMS. "The credit for these improvements and the award goes to our hardworking team."

Derek Slater, editor in chief of CSO, agreed with that assessment: "This year's honorees have created outstanding security projects and initiatives that have truly resulted in positive long-lasting outcomes for their organizations. We are pleased to have these organizations as our first class of CSO40 Award honorees."

"The security of our data underlies HMS's mission to power the healthcare system with integrity," said Cynthia Nustad, chief information officer of HMS. "The CSO40 Award recognizes the innovation we bring to the industry."
