HomeServe USA (HomeServe), a leading provider of home emergency repair solutions, today announced the launch of its partnership with the Gary Sanitation District (GSD) to offer optional service plans for exterior sewer lines to customers served by GSD. The plans offered through HomeServe, available to 24,000 households in Gary, will provide homeowners with coverage that protects them from the costs and inconveniences associated with emergency repairs to the exterior sewer lateral connecting their home to the GSD main, due to blockages, tree root intrusions, pipe breaks or other common occurrences.

“Many homeowners in our community are unaware that sewer repairs are the responsibility of the property owner. Naturally, many become frustrated when a blocked or damaged sewer service line is discovered at their property,” said GSD Special Administrator, Gary Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson. “By partnering with HomeServe to offer options to cover sewer line repairs, we hope to ease the burden associated with such an event and provide educational information that may help avoid an issue in the future.”

A Homeowner’s Line of Defense

In Gary, the sewer lines from the GSD sewer main to the home are the responsibility of the homeowner. Unaware that repairs to these areas are not covered by the City, homeowners can find themselves having to deal with the inconvenience of navigating emergency repairs on their own. Furthermore, they can be blindsided by the costs associated with such repairs. HomeServe’s coverage plans serve as a line of defense, ensuring that in the event of a home repair emergency, the burden on homeowners to bear the expense and difficulty is minimized or eliminated. The repair process, handled through HomeServe, is timely, seamless and high-quality.

“We’re very pleased to partner with the Gary Sanitation District to extend this peace of mind option to its customers,” said Tom Rusin, CEO of HomeServe USA. “Our Sewer Line coverage, along with the other HomeServe plans that will be available, are designed so that homeowners can cost-effectively minimize the inconvenience created by repair emergencies while protecting themselves from the associated costs.”

Accessible, Reliable, 24/7

HomeServe plan holders have access to a Repair Hotline that is accessible 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, as well as local, licensed, and insured contractors to provide high-quality home repair services in a timely manner. The Exterior Sewer/Septic Line Coverage is available for a $5.75 monthly fee during the first 12 months of coverage and residents that enroll in the option plan will receive up to $15,000 of annual protection. Convenient payment options are available directly through HomeServe.

Gary homeowners will receive additional details about the optional service plans in the mail. Homeowners can also visit www.HomeServeUSA.com/GSD or call 1-888-212-0294 for more information.
